Exam Tips

Pre-final exam period is on Sept. 12-14 while final exam period will probably be set on Oct. 12-14. What are the best methods to prepare for another student stress? How can a student cope and prepare for such a stressful event? Thus, here are some tips to consider:

  1. Time management
    • Always take note to consider time as your ally, not your enemy. You need to manipulate time in your favor. Never ignore it and later regret the consequences resulting to cramming and multi-tasking. Prepare a timeline schedule or a to-do list so that you'll be organized enough to finish your activities on time gaining you more time to study and review.
  2. Maintain a healthy diet
    • Eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals are much better than taking memory enhancers. Eat brain booster foods such as whole grains, oily fishes, fruits and green leafy vegetables, and nuts.
  3. Exercise
    • There's a saying, "train your body to train your spirit," which implies that a person needs to do physical conditioning to also condition the mind.
  4. Prepare your study plan
    • Do this guided study plan:
      • Step#1: Preview the chapters
      • Step#2: Skim paragraphs and main points
      • Step#3: Understand and highlight main points
      • Step#4: REVIEW
  5. Finish all assignments, projects and activities
    • Doing so will give you more time for studying than still trapped in making those time-consuming works.
  6. Stress buster
    • It depends on the person, sometimes even playing online games can be a form of stress buster. The one who recently topped first place in the Physician's Licensure Exam, said that his stress buster was playing online video games during his free time. Thus, give time for yourself but don't overdo it.
  7. Sleep
    • Adequate rest and sleep will condition your brain to receive and store information more efficiently than people who lack sleep. Never do an all-nighter before the day of the exam because it will cause poor brain performance causing poor comprehension of instructions and questions and poor analytical processing.
